In this 2 part workshop Brian will explore how each of us can develop a style of songwriting that is our own, yet artistically anchored in truth and in a way that speaks to those around us. Brian will explore subjects like the key of overcoming the resistance that keeps your song locked up, writing for the gap so you are competing with no one but yourself, writing in your signature style and learning your mother tongue, how songs start as seeds and the importance of being a seed collector. He will also explore structure options with viable alternatives to verse / chorus, and some techniques to help your lyrics find a fresh way to say the familiar.
