What we will cover:

  1. Chord Crunch
    A precise, clean way to play rhythm guitar
  2. How Did We Get Here?
    In depth look at the history of guitar playing and what we can learn from each era.
    This will be a big part of our day as we discover how to listen and apply the sounds and techniques of the guitarist of the past and the present.
  3. Numbers or Letters?
    A quick review of how to incorporate the number system into our music.
  4. Reading charts and understanding roadmaps of songs.
  5. Scales and Chord Formulas for practice and performance.
    Including playing with triads and arpeggios for creating parts.

Bring your guitar (acoustic, or electric w/ small practice amp or a headphone amp).

If you’ve ever been one of two guitarists playing on the worship platform and felt like there was a sonic ceiling, this class is for you.  Instead of awkwardly stepping on each other’s notes or playing the exact same chords, learn some ways to contrast and complement the other guitarist’s offerings using countermelodies, register, capo positions and rhythmic artistry in this new class.  Co-taught by Dave Cleveland and David Harsh.

Stuck in a rut with your strumming? No more! Come discover multiple highly useful strumming patterns that you can put to use right away (or give names to some of the patterns you’re using.) These patterns (captured in rhythmic notation with a specialized strum arrow system) are ideal for multiple settings. Time permitting, we can go deeper with selective palm muting, partial strumming, shuffling, triplets and more.
